South Africa’s Anele Mda is a social and gender activist and politician.That implies that she fights for social justice and gender justice. She speaks out against oppression and maybe racism. Against sexism and every aspect of social imbalance. Plus she is a politician. She ran for a seat in the National Assembly in the last election but lost.

So, in the past few weeks, Anele Mda has used her media strength to speak against the Miss South Africa organizers for a social anomaly. The body featured a young South African woman who has made it to the list of Miss South Africa finalists. The choice of this candidate has been disagreeable to the social activist.

Furthermore, according to South Africa’s Anele Mda, Chidinma Onwe Adetshina, the culprit is not a South African. Though, Onwe is born in South Africa of a South African mother. The organization even came out to say she fulfilled all the requirements to be a candidate for Miss South Africa. But Ms. Mda has not backed down.

Does the South Africa’s Anele Mda only recognize Asians and Caucasians as South Africans and not other Africans? Ms Adetshina is born of a Nigerian father, yet Anele Mda has been referring to her as a foreigner. Yet she has no issues with Vanessa Coutroulis whose parents are Portuguese and Byroni Govender who is of Indian ancestry as Miss South Africa. Or maybe she actually complained about them but not this loudly?

Finally, Ms. Anele Mda is invited all over the world as a social and gender activist. That is why she has dedicated herself to campaigning against a Nigerian-South African. She has cast doubt on the fairness of the pageant organization, in an age where Doja Cat is a celebrated American, Yityish Titi Aynaw was Miss Israel, Gaopele Mohlabane is celebrated in The United States and Miss Universe England is very dark-skinned.
