What’s your take on Black Girl Magic?
Khalil Gibran once said “Beauty is eternity staring at itself in the mirror, but you’re eternity and you are also the mirror” we all have the package of taking up challenging, growth and exciting phases embedded in us and while some may choose to tame theirs into submission others just simply seem to disagree and go out all the way for what they truly believe in.
The first Black Woman to win Miss Ireland’s pageant competition!
On this note, it is time to raise our glasses to celebrate one of our very own – Pamella Uba who just recently emerged as the first Black woman to be crowned as Miss Ireland in the history of pageantry in Ireland ever since the pageant has been recorded in 74 years!
It takes a lot to defy all odds with competing as a black woman amongst many things including online and offline bullying and racism but Pamella certainly understood the assignment! Having arrived in Ireland from South Africa as a very young and promising child, she drove herself to becoming a medical scientist and let’s not forget, owning the spotlight as a part time model. Talk about beauty and brains! She entered the pageant as Miss Galway; upon taking the crown home she will be representing Ireland during the Miss World pageant in December. Pamella took to her instagram with the heart-felt note: “it’s like a dream come true, words can’t even begin to describe how I’m feeling right now or have been feeling for the past week leading up to the final. It has been such a privilege to get know, stand beside and go through this unique journey with so many extraordinary young women in the competition”A toast to Pamella shall we! Go girl, we are all cheering you on!!!
